Gothong Southern Shipping Lines, Inc. (GSSLI) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance GSSLI’s emergency and disaster response capabilities. The cooperation agreement signing between GSSLI and PRC was held on March 11, 2018 at the newly renovated PRC Cebu chapter building.
The agreement between PRC and GSSLI aims to strengthen ties between the two parties and will enable the GS to tap the services of PRC in case of mass casualty incidents (MCIs), emergencies, disasters, and emergency field hospital (EFH) deployment.
GSSLI and PRC’s partnership will address GSSLI staff’s capabilities during disasters through an effective and well-coordinated emergency response, triage and trauma services. PRC will provide training for their personnel in emergency response and first-aid applications. Also, part of the agreement is the provision of accident insurance cards to cover all qualified GSSLI employees.
The cooperation agreement signing was led by Chairman Richard J. Gordon, PRC Cebu chapter administrator Maria Vera de Jesus and other officials of the PRC and Charles T. Gothong, Lolita C. Tan and Leolu S. Tagalog and other officials of Gothong Southern Shipping Lines, Inc.
